On July 9, 2024, Dr. Prof. Olena Kotykova, professor of the Department of Accounting and Economic Analysis of the Admiral Makarov National Shipbuilding University presented the report "Food Security/Insecurity in Ukraine" at the scientific colloquium of the Department of International Agrarian Policy and Environmental Management at the University of Kassel.
The event was held in two stages: a presentation of research results and a discussion. The main focus of the presentation is on the scale of losses in the agricultural sector of Ukraine due to the war and modern challenges in the country's agri-food sector. Scientists from the University of Kassel (off-line) and other institutions (on-line) took part in the discussion. Scientists were interested in the possibilities of rebuilding the agri-food system in Ukraine after the war, the relocation of agricultural producers, the development of agriculture in the front-line zones, the interest of foreign donors in the development of the agricultural sector of Ukraine, the development of organic farming in Ukraine, etc.
The event was moderated by Dr. Prof. Andreas Thiel, Head of the Department of International Agricultural Policy and Environmental Management. Organizational and technical support was provided by Dr. Sören Köpke.
